Shirl Ireland fell in love with nature and wildlife on her first trip to Yellowstone at the early age of 5 years old. When the Art Cart pulled into her first grade classroom, she had found her passions – Nature + Art.
In college, she studied fine art, design, and education. After graduation she started painting out of her kayak and hiking with her easel.
She’s been a professional artist for almost 30 years. During that time, she’s had a home and studio in amazing places which has provided her the opportunity to immerse herself in gorgeous landscapes with incredible wildlife… the Adirondack Mountains, in Montana at the edge of Yellowstone National Park and along the Pacific Ocean in Oregon.
She’s painted outside for documentaries with National Geographic, PBS and BBC. Her Art is in public and private collections throughout the United States, including the Department of Interior Museum in Washington DC as well as in the United Kingdom, France and Australia.
